"We thank Kirk Lewis for his service," Bing said in the release. "He played an important role as liaison to the State of Michigan and the Obama administration. We wish him well in future endeavors."
Lewis was chief governmental and corporate affairs officer. Karen Dumas, a spokeswoman for Bing, said "there were no issues" with Lewis, who expressed an interest in pursuing other opportunities. She said she didn't know why Fields was let go.

Other moves by Bing administration include: Chief of Staff Shannon Holmes will also take on Human Services Department and Health & Wellness Promotion duties, and Chief Communication Officer Karen Dumas will lead the government and philanthropic affairs office.

Additionally, it was announced the Department of Public Works, General Services, Public Lighting and GDDRA (in control of incinerator decisions) will all now report directly to Chief Operating Officer, Chris Brown.
